LeiLani Quiray

LeiLani’s fun fact: She ice climbs! She loves to get out in nature and do various mountaineering activities like ice climbing (crazy, we know), snow and rock climbing, backpacking, and camping. LeiLani also loves good food especially pizza with pineapple on it. She’s passionate about creating a business that not only does HR but also helps the community by teaching disadvantaged people job readiness skills and donating to various nonprofit organizations.

What LeiLani loves about HR: She always says that HR is NEVER boring. She’s a student of the ever-changing landscape of HR and a champion of creating happy, healthy workplace experiences. She often says “If you cry at work more than once per year, something is wrong.” She has made it her mission to change the workplace into a better place for all.

Experience: LeiLani has over 20 years of experience in HR spanning numerous industries and companies large and small. Her passion for learning keeps her up-to-date on all things HR.

Massiel Batista

Massiel’s fun fact: She is part of the Queer Latin Dance Group out in LA. She loves to dance, complete puzzles, and go rollerskating. Massiel is passionate about the advancement, fair treatment, and equal rights of BIPOC & LGBTQ+ communities.

What she loves about HR: Massiel loves to find creative solutions to businesses’ challenges and improve the lives of those she works with.

Experience: Massiel has 10 years of experience working in operations management before transitioning to HR. She has also worked in HR in various industries including food & beverage, hospitality, and the medical field.

On the HR Pro side: Massiel has her SHRM-CP and has a service-oriented attitude so you can count on her support. She is a creative problem solver and we know she can handle almost anything HR you throw at her. She earned her Bachelors from Cal Poly Pomona.  She is also bilingual in English and Spanish! 

On the foodie side: She loves Indian food.

Valerie Battles

Valerie’s fun facts: Valerie loves to travel and has visited six continents! She also enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, photography, and health & wellness. Valerie is passionate about the environment, nature, reducing waste, and mentoring

What she loves about HR: Valerie loves that HR requires continuous learning and gives her the ability to help people in and out of the workplace. Valerie also gets to fulfill her passion for mentoring by offering employment advice and sharing her professional experiences as a source of information and inspiration.

Experience: Valerie has worked in various human resources positions for more than 25 years including VP of Human Resources for an insurance services organization. She also has more than 15 years of experience as an HR Consultant working with small and medium-sized businesses.

On the HR Pro side: Valerie has over 28 years of HR experience with her SHRM-SCP and sHRB. She is always on the lookout for new policies that can affect your business. She is an amazing mentor for employment advice and HR information. Valerie earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of LaVerne.

Laurie Dever

Laurie’s fun fact: Laurie is actually a musician. She plays the bagpipes and she’s gone to play them for funerals, parades, weddings, and other events. In her free time, she likes to volunteer at Feedmore (an organization that prepares meals for those in need), walk her dogs, work out, play pickleball, and of course, play the bagpipes. Laurie is passionate about the humane treatment of people & animals, especially those who cannot speak for themselves.

What she loves about HR: Laurie loves that there is a lot of problem-solving and she gets to help with employee relations. She likes to bring people together to talk and resolve issues. She loves that HR is all about people and problem-solving.

Experience: Laurie recently retired from a 25-year career in HR, with the majority of the time working in non-profits at the executive or VP level. She has experience in most functions of HR, leadership, development, and coaching staff!

On the HR Pro side: Laurie has over 25 years of HR executive expertise and has her SHRM-CP and Professional Human Resources certifications. She also has her Master in Education from Bowling Green State University, post-Masters in Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University,  and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Laurie is a problem solver and loves working with employee relations and leadership development. She enjoys working to help employers and employees work together successfully.

On the foodie side: she especially loves Mediterranean food. On the weird foodie side, as a kid in Ohio, she grew up eating peanut burgers! That’s right, peanut butter on a burger.

Raul Pereyra

Fun Fact about Raul: He was classmates with Oscar De La Hoya (Golden Boy) at Garfield High School. Raul was born and raised in East Los Angeles and is the youngest of three siblings. He likes fixing things around his house and doing minor auto mechanic work. He enjoys working with his hands, cooking, and being a faithful husband and father to 2 young children. Raul is passionate about family and building relationships. 

What he loves about HR: Raul loves to focus on helping people. He likes the relationships we build as HR consultants and being able to negotiate to make sure things run smoothly.

On the HR Pro side: Raul is a certified Professional in Human Resources, with a MA from UT Austin, BA from UC Berkeley, and a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University. He’s passionate about helping you preserve healthy relationships with your employees. He’s our resident writing wiz who enjoys writing how-to’s and handbooks. Raul’s specialties are creating DEI strategies that transform organizations and helping you understand California labor laws.

On the foodie side: Raul loves Chinese foods!

Randee Walker

Fun fact about Randee: She went to Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. She likes anything outdoors including hiking, biking, visiting the beach, traveling, attending her children’s ice hockey games, and watching musical theater. She could live on Brussel Sprouts, lived in Nova Scotia Canada for four years and traveled all of Canada, was on a TV game show when I was 16, and would take a picnic over a restaurant any day.  Oh and she loves sushi! Randee is passionate about keeping her integrity, staying healthy, and raising her kids to work hard for what they want with outstanding morals and integrity.

What she loves about HR: Randee was born for this role! HR gives her a sense of satisfaction when she can help others be their best selves in the workplace.

Experience: Randee is an HR Professional with over 20 years of experience providing guidance and leadership to staff and senior management in both small and large organizations. She’s held several senior-level directorships in HR and has built a reputation for developing dynamic teams with the most important company asset, people. She lives for problem-solving and her passion is employee relations, coaching, training, and mentoring. Randee’s strong background and leadership provide her with the ability to step into a business and successfully assist teams in achieving and maintaining their HR goals including compliance, defining and implementing training programs, recruiting and retention, employee engagement, benefits, and more. Randee understands the everyday challenges that companies like yours are handling. She can provide you with a wide range of human resources consulting services.

On the HR Pro side: Randee has a long and strong career in HR (over 20 years) and has her HR Certification from UCI. She loves helping our clients get their HR house in order and we know she’ll be very useful to you. And she’s just plain awesome! She got her Bachelor’s from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. 

Genevieve Webster

Fun fact about Genevieve: She’s met the Queen of England! Genevieve likes outdoorsy activities like camping and hiking. She also likes spending time with her pets, knitting, and crocheting. Genevieve is passionate about her family and raising her son to be an amazing person in this ever-changing world.

What she loves about HR: Genevieve loves that there is always something new to do each day. There is never the same day twice.

Experience: Genevieve has over 14 years of HR experience and she takes joy in helping others fulfill career potential, with a bias for action, openness to change, and a sense of humor.

On the HR Pro side: Genevieve is heavily decorated and a force to be reckoned with!  She’s got her SPHR, is a Certified Training Facilitator, training in Investigating Employee Misconduct, a Professional Certificate in Human Resources Management, a Bachelor from UCSB, and a long, successful 14-year career.  She also belongs to SHRM and PIHRA.  

On the foodie side: Genevieve loves a great sushi roll or two but could also be tempted by a steamy, cheesy slice of pizza.

Gene Aldava

Gene Aldava

Gene’s fun fact: Gene loves serving his community and local nonprofits. Gene is a Los Angeles native with deep family roots in Southern California.  He completed BA and MA degrees in English at UCLA. Gene “retired” in mid-2019 with a goal of staying engaged in HR on a part-time basis.  As an independent consultant, he services four small, local nonprofits that assist underserved communities.

What he loves about HR: Gene loves to help small businesses and nonprofits. Supporting those around him fulfills his deep desire to better his own community.

On the HR Pro side: Gene’s career spans 40 years and includes several years as an independent contractor/consultant.  Major employers include California Federal Inc. (now Citibank CA), Aozora Bank in Los Angeles (Tokyo-based investment bank), City National Bank, Edison International, California Wellness Foundation, and Oakwood Worldwide (corporate housing). 

 

Trisha Noethe

Trisha Noethe

Trisha’s fun fact: Trisha lived her whole life in Minnesota and really enjoys having 4 true seasons. She has 2 children (a college Freshman and a 15-month-old) who keep her busy in their own respective ways. She loves traveling, reselling items from Amazon, and the occasional binging Netflix series/movies. She is also passionate about volunteering with teens/young adult women on how to balance being a mom, student, and employee.

What she loves about HR: Trisha loves being able to support employers and employees across the nation, fulfilling her love of travel and HR at the same time!

Experience: HR has been Trisha’s chosen profession for 15+ years and she has been able to combine her love of traveling with it. She has supported employers/employees across the United States in small to midsize organizations. Most of her experience has been in 1-person or 2-person HR teams which has given her vast exposure to all things HR. 

Cristina Gutierrez

Cristina’s fun fact: Cristina LOVEs traveling, but (for so many reasons) she did not have a chance to travel outside of the US…until 2018! In 2018 she had the opportunity to travel to six different countries (U.K, France, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Costa Rica).

What she loves about HR: Cristina loves that in HR no two days are the same! She truly believes HR is the backbone of ANY organization; it can make or break the mission/vision of a company. Cristina appreciates being a part of creating, and supporting a healthy culture/environment, and creating meaningful relationships.

Experience: Cristina brings 12+ of HR experience working with nonprofits, hospitality, and sports entertainment. Although she is a seasoned ‘Generalist,’ she has a passion for employee/investigations, compliance, and talent acquisition. Cristina currently has her PHR, and completed her MBA from Rollins Collins – Crummer School of Business, with a concentration in International Business.

Bon Sanchez

Fun Fact about Bon: Bon likes to sing When he’s bored, happy, or sad, he can do karaoke alone for 2 – 4 hours. 🙂 When he was young,  he always went to the beach with his siblings and friends to swim and practice singing. They say that when you are in the water, it’s good exercise for your lungs and your breathing. Every time there is an occasion or family gathering at home, karaoke is always present. His whole family likes karaoke, it’s their bonding time together.

What he loves about HR: Bon loves HR because it serves as the bridge between the employee and the employer. They listen and make sure that every concern is handled properly. 

Experience:  Bon has 5 years of experience in delivering quality customer service via phone, chat, and email. He has worked with different top-notch companies in providing solutions to the concerns raised by customers. This experience taught him how to deal with different types of people and helped them address their reasons for contact. Being able to provide resolution, gives him a certain level of satisfaction and makes his job fulfilling.
